Liverpool has an abundance of atrractions
and sites. From cultural to pop, from trendy to
traditional, from shopping to strolling ... there
is something for everybody.
For a bit of retail therapy, Liverpool is ideal
and most major high street stores and designer
shops are represented at the Met Quarter. There are
many specialist stores and antique shops, or why
not try Grand Central for diverse individual
shops.

GREAT
TOURIST ATTRACTIONS ...
Liverpool is great city to walk
about and has a huge range of magnificent
buildings, such as the recently restored
St George's Hall and the famous "Three
Graces" on the waterfront - only London
has more listed buildings. A visit to
Liverpool's Chinatown, the oldest in
Europe, is a must.

As to nightlife, there are many,
varied, quality restaurants in town and a
huge array of bars and clubs to choose
from. Most bars in the city centre stay
open until at least 2 am. Liverpool has a
strong history of performing arts which is
reflected in the number of theatres in the
city, including the Empire, Everyman,
Neptune, Royal Court and Unity Theatres,
and the Liverpool Playhouse. The Everyman
and Playhouse run their own theatre
companies as does the Unity Theatre. A
flourishing orchestra, the Royal Liverpool
Philharmonic Orchestra, performs in its
own home, the Philharmonic Hall. The city
also features a youth orchestra.

And for Beatles enthusiasts, there's a
host of attractions -The Beatle Story
Museum, The Cavern Club, The Casbah &
Jacaranda Club, The Magical Mystery Tour,
International Beatle Week, Penny Lane,
Strawberry Field and their childhood
homes. But the city is not just home to
the Beatles (The Lightning Seeds, Space,
Echo & The Bunnymen, The Zutons, The
Coral anyone?), so it's worth visiting
some of the many terrific live music
venues such as the Picket, the Mask,
Barfly, The Carling Academy, Zanzibar, the
Cavern or even the student union.

SPORT AND
SPORTING ACTIVITIES ...
For the sports minded the city is
home to 2 European champion football
clubs, Liverpool FC and Everton. Both have
ground tours, or you could try going to a
match. There are two racecourses - Haydock
Park and Aintree - home of the world's
most famous race, the Grand National.
Aintree has a visitor centre where you can
try the Grand National Experience - not to
be missed! And there are great golf
courses, karting, watersports and
rugby.
